Even after reading dozens of reviews about Dos Plumas Ranch, I still had some doubts. Since returning home, all of those doubts have been laid to rest. "Where you are treated like family" is an understatement. All the statements about Allen and Lori being such great and cool people can't be explained until you experience it for yourself. I was invited into their home, ran errands with them during down time, learned about hunting ranch life, and enjoyed their company more than words can say. Then there's Brandon....( a.k.a. "THE GUIDE"). He's more amusing than a barrel of monkeys, knows about the animals / land, and has a great love of politics. These folks TRULY CARE about their clients. They are not money hungry, greedy, "let's get 'em out of here as quickly as possible" people. Again, words cannot say enough.

Then there's the hunt. I was there for the exotics. I saw multiple numbers of fallow, axis, blackbuck and different species of rams. They also have aoudads, more deer species and hogs EVERYWHERE you look. This is a HUNT, not a "petting zoo." The animals are WILD and have to be hunted. They have multiple feeders set up and spotting / stalking was also a great way to see animals. The land is not at all as I expected. It's thick, dense, full of cover, and truly a challenge.

I arrowed a GIANT axis buck. Being a big, tough animal, and maybe not hitting him as expected, i called in the cavalry. Allen, Brandon, and Annie the dog helped me track blood and follow trails in pursuit of my trophy.

If you are looking for a great hunt with a LOT of animals at great prices and some awesome hospitality, then Dos Plumas is your place. I PROMISE i will go back A.S.A.P. and will be taking my little step-son to let him take a ram and hog.

To Potential Hunters -- If you never have hunted at Dos Plumas, you are missing out on a wonderful experience. There is plenty of game, everyone treats you like family and Lori is the best cook ever. The entire set up is amazing and after one day of hunting you'll know the hard work that has been poured into this operation. I have hunted here for three years now and will continue to come out every year. By the time your hunt is over, you'll be planning another, so if your debating, don't -- grab your weapon and head on over to Dos Plumas!

Best animals, best property, most fun, most importantly, BEST PEOPLE! Great lodging. Can't wait to get back. Not only a great hunting opportunity, we now have a new group of friends. Mr. Williams and his staff are simply, THE BEST!

What an experience, this place was amazing. As soon as we pulled up we were welcomed with open arms as if we were family. But the hospitality never stopped. The animals were plentiful and of quality. Without a doubt we will be coming back and bringing more family and friends. This was by far one great trip and experience, minus the minor vehicular problems on the way to the hunt. But we just can't say enough about Allen and Lori, great people, great food, great ranch!!!!

Allen and Lori, I cannot tell you how great it was to finally meet you both. I have to tell you that after staying at your ranch that in my 33 years of hunting all over the world I have never felt like I was part of the family regardless of where I hunted, until I got to Dos Plumas. You have both worked hard to ensure that everyone that comes to the ranch not only leaves with harvesting their animals but to ensure they are family. Everyone I met there was on their third, fourth or fifth hunt with you. You have only been open for three years!!!! If people will drive to you from over 1700 miles away to hunt with you again for just a weekend speaks volumes about how you run the ranch and treat everyone there. Lori's great hospitality and cooking is a big draw also, I never left the table hungry!!! The cobbler is EXCELLENT!!  The bunk house is more than comfortable and a fantastic setup. While hunting there I saw game every time I went out. Not just some game but over 100 hogs at a time, Fallow, Black buck, Rams and Buffalo. I have never seen so many game animals at once in a low fenced area. Big hogs several were over 250+ LBS. It tells me you manage your property well. Your ranch hand, Roger, even though he is young knows your ranch and game animals like the back of his hand. He worked his butt off to get me onto the great hog and ram I took. He is polite, smart and has an bright future ahead of him. Tell him good luck with the Alpaca hunting!!! hahaha  I can see why once you have been to the ranch everyone comes back, because your family and it is home. The one thing that I didn't like was the fact that the hunt was over way to quick and I had to leave, but there is next time. Again... Thank You for a super hunt and great experience. Allen, just a short note to thank you for the great Texas hospitality and another great hunting experience at Dos Plumas Ranch. I had the time of my life. Being able to harvest all the animals that I booked was unexpected, but a dream come true when it happened! Tell Lori that the food was super ... beyond expectation ... Let Rodger know that I will be back next year and I look forward to seeing him around camp ... maybe he can stay with us next time or even join me in a hunt ... great kid, knowledgeable tracker and an all around great guy ...
