Like a lot of folks, I work a long job and I have very little free time. It is super nice to get away to Dos Plumas and relax. All the other hunters I have met there have been great and I continue to be friends with a few of them still. Lodge is clean and fresh. Grill outside with lots of seating. Just a nice laid back atmosphere. That walk in cooler is a big hit too. Then there’s the hunting. No shortage of game there. Brice is a good hunter himself and doesn’t just randomly drop you off at a stand somewhere. He is conscience of the wind direction and the latest game activity. This guy is at it 365 days per year and it shows.
It is well worth the phone call to inquire about a hunt at Dos Plumas Ranch.
Thank you again Brice and Allen for your efforts to maintain a safe, honest, clean and affordable place to hunt.”

“I was a little bit nervous about the new ranch as I had hunted the old location and loved it. But I decided to go see the new place and I’m very glad I did. There has been a lot of effort put into the ranch to make hunting an enjoyable experience. And the folks at Dos Plumas want you to be successful — I can’t say that about every place I’ve been. Brice knows his business and the stands are good for bow or rifle hunting and as a bow hunter, that’s another thing I can’t say about several ranches in spite of what is advertised. And the game on the ranch — I saw animals every time I went out. Who could ask for more than that? I will definitely be back and we will bring a group of Colorado bow hunters with us.”

“It was a pleasure spending time at Dos Plumas Ranch this past weekend! I cannot say enough about how great the accommodations, hunting, and hospitality was. Even if I had not harvested a single animal my comments about our stay would have been just as positive since I believe the hunting experience at Dos Plumas, especially with my sons, went far beyond the number of animals harvested. There is no question we will be back and I will plan all our travels better so out time frame is not as tight as it was on this trip. I have without a doubt learned alot about hunting and myself on this trip. Thanks again to all of you for a great time and I am already looking forward to my next trip out there.”
Greg Mork (Aug. 2011 on the new ranch)
“Want to drop you a quick note to thank you for your warm hospitality and excellent hunting ranch. This was our second trip to Dos Plumas this year. We have not been disappointed yet, winter or summer, and hope to come back again soon. Even though we hunted in freezing, snowy conditions in December and 100 degree plus days in August, both of us had a great time, saw lots of good animals and fulfilled our hunting package. Not being a hunter myself, I still enjoy being outdoors, spending quality time together, talking at the dinner table and meeting other hunters in the lodge. I have met many fine people at the ranch, which is a tribute to ya’ll. As you say in your newsletters, everyone that comes through the ranch is like a family member. We have taken lots of lifelong memories with us. I only hope that Lori will join us for meals next time!”

Allen and Lori,
Just wanted to say great job on of of your improvements and I appreciate getting these e-mails from you guys! I wrote you a couple of months ago just to say again how much I enjoyed my experience with you guys! I am not sure if you even remember me but I was the Soldier that came from fort bliss El paso. I had been MEDVAC out of Iraq and had to have back surgery at Walter reed army hospital! My wife was still in Iraq when I came out to hunt. I bow hunted and allen you did everything that you could to put me on a deer but it just was not meant to be. But even without a kill I still had a great experience with you guys! We are stationed in Alaska right now and I will soon be medically retired. I look forward to another great time with you guys either for turkey or another whitetail hunt!! Keep up the great work with Dos Plumas! You guys have a great thing going! It still ranks in my top hunting experiences and I hunt all over Alaska for big game! If you ever come to Alaska you would have a place to stay and I would love to show you some big game or even some of the most amazing fishing in the world. 30″ rainbows, every species of salmon and halibut! Take care and I hope to come down one of these years and put down some Dos Plumas animals!

Dear Allen …
Thank you for the hog hunt … we had so much fun. You guys made us feel like we were at home. You guys are very professional. We really like how you don’t make us feel like we are dollar signs. I sure hope we can make it back to your place next year. Thank you again.
Yours truly, Steven, Rick, and Jarred

Allen, Lori and Roger … Thanks for the fun and exciting hunt. Deb and I had a great time. After such a good experience I don’t think Deb will be the same. She has never been so close to or shot anything with a bow. Lori’s cooking was top notch and Roger
did all he could to make things fun and enjoyable. I still lose sleep over that Fallow deer. Ya’ll have a great operation. Hope to be back soon and often.
Thanks again, Ron & Deb Dees

My lasting memory …
The quiet walk to the stand in the dark; the sun rising on a crisp and clear morning; the sounds of the feeder going off just before dawn; my son with so much excitement and a constant grin; and finally, the deer becoming visible in the high brush all around us. All your senses are alive as you swivel your head around glassing everything and counting the points and eventually finding a 12 pointer. Wow, those are memories that will stay fresh in my mind forever. It’s during these times that you forget about everything else and enjoy time with a singular focus, savoring each moment.
This, my son’s first whitetail hunt, will always be the best. Allen and Lori, thank you for sharing your ranch and making this memory for us.
Warm regards, David Wilson

As usual, Lori and your hospitality is second to none! Please tell Lori “Thank You” so much for the fine meals again for me. Chris and I had a real good time and are planning another hunt some time next spring. Your kindness to everyone is an asset to the management process of your ranch. I am truly honored to have met you and Lori and will continue to return when I can. Thank you for everying.

Allen – we had a great time. Thanks also for the postcard – nice touch! We found your ranch to be a great hunt for the money. In my experienced opinion, the best bowhunting packages for the money in Texas! We got two nice pigs, one rattlesnake, one turtle, one raccoon, and lots of bass! Thanks for running a solid operation.

Allen and Lori,
If y’ll get a chance, read the story under “Best Outfitters” on the TexasHogHunter.com website. I can not say enough about how great a time we all had with you guys this last weekend. Allen, your knowledge of your property and the time and care you take to make sure the animals have what they need is superior to any I have met. You treated us strangers as if we were family and that in itself is a rarity these days with everyone in the business more concerned about the money end of it vs the good time had by their customers. To which, at no time did I feel like one. You did what you could to get me on an Axis, but hey, that’s why it is called hunting and not killing. Like we both talked about with my buddy in Idaho, it’s not all about coming home with an animal but the friendships made and the great times had by all. That animal is just a bonus. Lori, your home cooking leaves nothing to be desired. It was excellent and I came away stuffed every time. My son loves the chocolate cake also. Thanks, LOL Anyways, like I said to you that day, I saw more animals in 2 days with you than I have on any other ranch I have hunted since being here in TX and that is the truth. I am already looking forward to coming back. I’ll get that axis one way or another. It may take me a few trips but I’ll get-er-done and trust me a few trips ain’t a bad idea either. Y’all take care and be safe.

Allen and Lori,
Thank you so much for sharing your dream (Dos Plumas) with JP and me. I had so much fun! I could type for and hour and still not be able to describe how neat the experience was. All I can say is if you’re reading this, and you’re within 1000 miles of Dos Plumas … it’s a no-brainer! If you live further you still should check it out. So many animals, lots of space, terrain, no complaints. As a beginning hunter it was a great chance to observe lots of wildlife, practice spot and stalk and harvest some great looking animals. Allen you really know your craft. Thanks for the instruction on cleaning/skinning our animals, not so nervous about it now. Thanks again for everything! We will try to make it back in the fall.

I had some of the best times of my life at your ranch. I shot a nice small pig and my cousin Cody shot a decent sized boar. What a thrill, my first bow-kill was taken at the ranch. It was great. Thanks for the great times and experience we had at your place Allen and Lori. I will never forget it, you run a top notch outfit! YES SIR! LOL He will teach you some Texan lingo and shall I call “Secrets” (that’s all I will say about that subject haha). Seriously, game and hogs are everywhere, but they are not easy to hunt, this is not a canned hunt. Those hogs were harder to stalk and get a shot on than the moose I have hunted. You get treated like family there, it’s awesome. I can’t wait to get back down there soon and work for you, brother. Thanks a lot, Allen and Lori, who by the way has the best damn cooking out there, bar none. See you soon. YES SIR! YES SIR!

Hi there Allen and Lori, Just a little note to let you know how we enjoyed our ram and hog hunt, at the Dos Plumas Ranch. I have nothing but compliments for you two on the way you manage and hunt your ranch, and the way that you treat the people that come to hunt with you is remarkable. My son and I feel like Roger catered to us to make our hunting trip enjoyable and memorable. The lodge we stayed in was very comfortable and accommodating. My son and I are looking forward to coming back next year for another hunt, and with a longer stay. Be in touch with you soon with the details of our next hunt with ya’ll in 2010. Thanks again, your new best friend from Colorado.

Hi Allen. On behalf of myself and my son Todd, we want to thank you for a wonderful time. You went way out of your way to make this a memorable hunt. We had a long drive 18 hours and it seem like forever BUT going home went quickly as when one of us wasn’t snoozing we relived all the excitement of the hunt. We saw game everywhere from rams, fallow deer, exotics and to “sleeping” hogs. Your lodge is great and has everything you would need.
REMEMBER: Neither sleet, snow or rain keeps Wisconsin hunters from staying out all day! We are already planning for next year. Keep up the good work and see ya again.
Thanks again, Tom and the Mohican

Even after reading dozens of reviews about Dos Plumas Ranch, I still had some doubts. Since returning home, all of those doubts have been laid to rest. “Where you are treated like family” is an understatement. All the statements about Allen and Lori being such great and cool people can’t be explained until you experience it for yourself. I was invited into their home, ran errands with them during down time, learned about hunting ranch life, and enjoyed their company more than words can say. Then there’s Brandon….( a.k.a. “THE GUIDE”). He’s more amusing than a barrel of monkeys, knows about the animals / land, and has a great love of politics. These folks TRULY CARE about their clients. They are not money hungry, greedy, “let’s get ’em out of here as quickly as possible” people. Again, words cannot say enough.
Then there’s the hunt. I was there for the exotics. I saw multiple numbers of fallow, axis, blackbuck and different species of rams. They also have aoudads, more deer species and hogs EVERYWHERE you look. This is a HUNT, not a “petting zoo.” The animals are WILD and have to be hunted. They have multiple feeders set up and spotting / stalking was also a great way to see animals. The land is not at all as I expected. It’s thick, dense, full of cover, and truly a challenge.
I arrowed a GIANT axis buck. Being a big, tough animal, and maybe not hitting him as expected, i called in the cavalry. Allen, Brandon, and Annie the dog helped me track blood and follow trails in pursuit of my trophy.
If you are looking for a great hunt with a LOT of animals at great prices and some awesome hospitality, then Dos Plumas is your place. I PROMISE i will go back A.S.A.P. and will be taking my little step-son to let him take a ram and hog.
Don’t miss out on a WONDERFUL experience. I promise you will NOT be let down.

Brandon — thanks, man for everything. You are a hard worker and experienced and in just a little more time you’ll have the ranch memorized like Allen inch by inch! Good luck to you and hope to see on our next trip!
To Potential Hunters — If you never have hunted at Dos Plumas, you are missing out on a wonderful experience. There is plenty of game, everyone treats you like family and Lori is the best cook ever. The entire set up is amazing and after one day of hunting you’ll know the hard work that has been poured into this operation. I have hunted here for three years now and will continue to come out every year. By the time your hunt is over, you’ll be planning another, so if your debating, don’t — grab your weapon and head on over to Dos Plumas!
Thanks Again — We Love You Guys!

Best animals, best property, most fun, most importantly, BEST PEOPLE! Great lodging. Can’t wait to get back. Not only a great hunting opportunity, we now have a new group of friends. Mr. Williams and his staff are simply, THE BEST!
What an experience, this place was amazing. As soon as we pulled up we were welcomed with open arms as if we were family. But the hospitality never stopped. The animals were plentiful and of quality. Without a doubt we will be coming back and bringing more family and friends. This was by far one great trip and experience, minus the minor vehicular problems on the way to the hunt. But we just can’t say enough about Allen and Lori, great people, great food, great ranch!!!!

WOW, ***WHAT A HUNT***
Just wanted to drop a line can’t say much more than I had the time of my life. That MONSTER FALLOW is going to look great on my wall not mentioning my sons Hog and grandsons Ram. Memories that you can’t find anywhere else.

Allen and Lori, I cannot tell you how great it was to finally meet you both. I have to tell you that after staying at your ranch that in my 33 years of hunting all over the world I have never felt like I was part of the family regardless of where I hunted, until I got to Dos Plumas. You have both worked hard to ensure that everyone that comes to the ranch not only leaves with harvesting their animals but to ensure they are family. Everyone I met there was on their third, fourth or fifth hunt with you. You have only been open for three years!!!! If people will drive to you from over 1700 miles away to hunt with you again for just a weekend speaks volumes about how you run the ranch and treat everyone there. Lori’s great hospitality and cooking is a big draw also, I never left the table hungry!!! The cobbler is EXCELLENT!! The bunk house is more than comfortable and a fantastic setup. While hunting there I saw game every time I went out. Not just some game but over 100 hogs at a time, Fallow, Black buck, Rams and Buffalo. I have never seen so many game animals at once in a low fenced area. Big hogs several were over 250+ LBS. It tells me you manage your property well. Your ranch hand, Roger, even though he is young knows your ranch and game animals like the back of his hand. He worked his butt off to get me onto the great hog and ram I took. He is polite, smart and has an bright future ahead of him. Tell him good luck with the Alpaca hunting!!! hahaha I can see why once you have been to the ranch everyone comes back, because your family and it is home. The one thing that I didn’t like was the fact that the hunt was over way to quick and I had to leave, but there is next time. Again… Thank You for a super hunt and great experience. I am looking forward to seeing you again soon. P.S. Thank you for your unwavering support of our military and their families, You all are truly great Americans.

Allen, just a short note to thank you for the great Texas hospitality and another great hunting experience at Dos Plumas Ranch. I had the time of my life. Being able to harvest all the animals that I booked was unexpected, but a dream come true when it happened! Tell Lori that the food was super … beyond expectation … Let Rodger know that I will be back next year and I look forward to seeing him around camp … maybe he can stay with us next time or even join me in a hunt … great kid, knowledgeable tracker and an all around great guy … You have the greatest ranch and best people working around you. Looking forward to next year’s hunt … Thanks again Dos Plumas Staff …

Had the time of my life! Allen and his help are world class! Great bunk house, and hospitality! Went on a hunt with in-law for a hog and upgraded to a ram and hog hunt and harvested both! There aren’t many people that understand the joy and magic of hunting with a bow like Allen does! Match that and his ability to be a guide, and you are in for the best hunt of your life! Thanks again Allen!!!!

Thanks to Allen and Lori for a great week of hunting. I brought my employees down for a hunting trip and was not disappointed. We had great hunting, accommodations, and some fine Texas cookin! We killed three Rio’s, three hogs, a Spanish goat, and a nice four-foot rattlesnake. Most of all we had fun with the relaxed atmosphere provided at the Dos Plumas Ranch. Allen went out of his way to accommodate us. Thanks again for a great time! We look forward to hunting with you again in the future.

Once again, Dos Plumas proves to have the best place to hunt in Texas! Allen’s guiding, Lori’s cooking, and the overall hospitality and atmosphere make an unbeatable combination. I had an unforgettable hunt — it just keeps getting better.
